What's in the Box
- Kicker Hideaway 10" or 12" powered subwoofer
- Remote bass level control, with mounting hardware
- Plug & play wiring harness, pre-wired, soldered and shrink-wrapped
- Kicker KISL RCA converter, soldered to the Hideaway harness
- Kicker RCA splitter
- Pre-terminated in-line fuse holder for the battery connection
- Pre-terminated ground lead
- Velcro for securing the sub to the carpet
Tools You'll Need
- Panel removal tool
- 7mm socket
- Zip ties
- Drill or utility knife (to open the firewall grommet if needed)
Step 1: Remove the Temperature Control Panel
Pull from either side of the temperature control panel to release the clips. Remove the 7mm screws holding it in place, then lift the panel out and set it aside.
Step 2: Connect the Plug & Play Harness at the Radio
Unplug the main connector from the factory head unit. Plug the Trail Seven harness in between the factory connector and the head unit. The KISL converter is already soldered to the harness, so there are no wires to cut or tap.
Step 3: Route the Harness to the Cargo Area
Route the harness to the back of the Bronco along the driver-side door trim, feeding it through the channel under the trim. Keep the red power wire up front, as it runs to the battery.
Step 4: Place the Hideaway
Set the Hideaway in the cargo area on the driver side, against the rear bench. Secure it to the carpet with the provided Velcro, then plug the harness into the Hideaway.
Step 5: Connect the Ground
Attach the pre-terminated ground lead to the ground bolt behind the driver-side panel.
Step 6: Run Power to the Battery
Run the red power wire through the rubber firewall grommet into the engine bay. If there isn't already a hole, cut or drill a small one in the grommet. Connect the pre-terminated in-line fuse holder to the battery (front, driver side). Make this the last connection.
Step 7: Mount the Bass Knob
Mount the remote bass level control where you can reach it from the driver's seat and connect it to the Hideaway harness.
Step 8: Test and Reinstall
Turn on the Bronco, play music and confirm the sub is working. Set the Hideaway using the settings below, then reinstall the temperature control panel and any trim you removed.
Hideaway Settings:
Auto Turn On:
Set to DC when connecting using speaker wire T-taps, Set to +12V when using a LOC from the radio.
Input Level:
Set to HI when using RCA's for signal source, Set to LO when using speaker wire T-Taps.
Phase:
Neither 0 or 180 is absolute correct. Whichever sounds louder/ fuller to you is best.
Bass Boost:
This feature enhances bass frequencies, particularly for older music recordings. Use this with caution as this is the leading cause to blowing the subwoofer. We suggest a very low setting for this option.
X-Over Freq:
Set around 9 O'Clock
Gain Levels:
Set gain to 0 and radio levels to 0. Gradually increase volume to 75% max. Increase gain slowly until slight distortion is noticed, then lower gain slightly.
