Alpine integrated dashcam

"Again Trail Seven do a great job with their installation videos and guides. They empower a bunch of us fairly handy guys with tools to tackle jobs we may otherwise pass on. Shipping was fast, communication good, always available to answer questions. So this DVR-C320R was installed immediately after an i509 so you might call it a bundled install. The installation video on T7 is in a JK install on a JK version of the i509 so it is different. The actual hardware install was straight forward and not hard. The wiring was a bit different. The video of course is a JK, the installation instructions on T7 a bit different, Alpine web site different yet again and the small book included in the box is even different that the previous 3 or 4. For the JLU on the JL version of the i509 there are only 7 connections 1.Camera to main dashcam harness 2. Dashcam harness red/white/yellow RCA connects ONLY to the yellow RCA on the main 509 harness in the footwell. Red and white not used 3. Rear camera - self explanatory 4. Lin on camera harness connects to main harness LIN in the footwell 5-7. On the dash am harness there are the three wires for power. 12v battery (red), 12v accessory (yellow) and ground (black). These connect to the i509 harness plug labeled “AUX PWR”. The i509 main harness “AUX PWR” is supposed to have a pigtail you can use pin/plug connectors to hook to. Mine was not there so I had to cut the plug off and wire direct. The AUX PWR plug on the i509 harness SHOULD be in the footwell because that is where all the other dashcam to radio connections are BUT I could not find it because it was on the other end in the display end in the center dash. Why they put all the other connections in the footwell and this one in the display end is beyond me. I made a 22ga 3 wire harness to go from the i509 harness AUX PWR in the dash back down to the footwell to connect to the dashcam harness. It works but it was a a pain to figure out and an extra half hour installing. Great camera, great features, confusing installation instructions and an isolated connection point made this super easy install more difficult than it should have been."
