Pre-Install Read (For non B&O)

The Bronco's audio system has evolved over time. Initially, non-B&O models lacked a subwoofer, using the space for a small shelf. Ford later added a subwoofer in the trunk area, eliminating the shelf. If you have an early model Bronco, we offer a mesh grill that requires DIY modifications to the trunk trim to make room for the amp.

Instructions for Installing the Amp

  1. Trim Removal:
Remove necessary trims for effective installation and wiring as shown in the video. This includes:

    • Rear seat bump-out trim
    • Both rear door bottom trims
    • Trunk bottom trim
    • Front driver bottom trim
    • Driver side trunk wall trim (pop only the door side)
    • Bottom portion of the driver side B-pillar trim
    • Passenger side trunk wall trim (work from top to bottom)
  2. Access the Subwoofer:
After removing the trims, you will see the subwoofer enclosure:
    • Use a 10mm socket to remove the four nuts.
    • Unplug the amp connector on the left side of the enclosure.
    • Use an 8mm socket to remove the ground cable above the subwoofer.
  3. Install the New Amp:
Install the new amp system's bracket in place of the old subwoofer enclosure as shown in the video.
    • Ensure all wiring has ample clearance to avoid pinching.
  4. Final Wiring:
Route the wires towards the driver side and under the back seat bump-out trim.
Ensure all wiring has ample clearance to avoid pinching.
  5. Dash Disassembly:
Remove the grab handles, under-steering wheel trim, and glove box to access the head unit.
    • Disconnect the larger black connector (leave the smaller gray plug connected).
    • Connect the top piece of the T-harness you unplugged earlier to the head unit and run it behind the dash.
  6. Power Cable Installation:
Route the power cable through the firewall grommet into the engine compartment.
    • Create a small incision in the grommet for weather resistance.
  7. Power Connection:
Locate the power wire, connect it to the fuse holder, and secure it to the battery.
    • The cable may spark during installation, which is normal.
  8. Final Checks:
Ensure all plugs are seated correctly and inspect amplifier settings.
    • Start the Bronco and test the audio system for functionality.

Amplifier Setting Suggestions

  • Gain Levels:
Set gain to 0 and radio levels to 0. Gradually increase volume to 75% max. For Channel 1, increase gain slowly until slight distortion is noticed, then lower gain slightly. Follow the same method for the remaining channels. Use radio settings for “salt and pepper” adjustments.
  • Crossover Frequency:
Set the crossover frequency for front and rear speakers (Amp 1 and Amp 2) around 3 o’clock or higher. For the subwoofer, aim for a crossover frequency at about 9 o’clock.
  • Bass Boost:
This feature enhances bass frequencies, particularly for older music recordings. We recommend setting the bass boost between 9 and 12 o’clock for optimal sound.
