Step 1: Remove Tailgate Trim Panel
Use a plastic panel removal tool to remove the trim panel from the tailgate.
Installation Note:
Begin at one edge and work gradually around the panel. Avoid prying too aggressively to prevent damaging retaining clips.
Step 2: Attach L-Brackets to Enclosure
Secure the provided L-brackets to the enclosure in the exact orientation shown in the installation reference photo.
Installation Note:
Bracket positioning is critical to ensure proper alignment with the vehicle mounting locations. The wire terminal on the enclosure is pre-mounted and pre-wired—no additional terminal work is necessary.
Step 3: Mark Mounting Hole Locations
Position the enclosure into the tailgate cavity, resting it in the designated support slots. Slide the enclosure fully toward the passenger (right) side for best alignment. Mark the mounting hole positions.
Installation Note:
Use a marking tool that contrasts well with the vehicle paint or interior (such as a silver Sharpie or masking tape). Having a second person hold the enclosure can help during this step.
Step 4: Drill Mounting Holes
Drill 3/8" holes at the previously marked locations.
Installation Note:
Use a step bit or high-quality metal drill bit. Ensure that no wiring or components are behind the surface before drilling.
Step 5: Install Rivet Nuts
Install the included 1/4"-20 rivet nuts into the drilled holes using a rivet nut installation tool.
Installation Note:
Rivet nuts create a strong, threaded anchor point for secure enclosure mounting. Manual or powered rivet nut tools are both acceptable. Follow the tool’s instructions for proper crimping.
Step 6: Mount the Enclosure
Secure the enclosure to the tailgate using the provided 6mm bolts.
Installation Note:
Tighten bolts evenly. Avoid overtightening, which could damage the rivet nuts or enclosure brackets.
Step 7: Connect and Mount the Subwoofer
Connect the subwoofer’s terminals to the pre-wired leads inside the enclosure (red = positive, black = negative). Then, mount the subwoofer using the included screws.
Installation Note:
Confirm proper polarity for optimal subwoofer performance. Use a screwdriver or drill with a clutch to avoid overtightening the mounting screws.
Step 8: Route Subwoofer Wire to Amplifier
Route the pre-installed subwoofer wire from the enclosure into the vehicle, following the OEM wiring harness. Secure it using zip ties or tape (not included) and continue routing it to the amplifier.
Installation Note:
Following the OEM harness path helps protect the wire from abrasion and heat, and keeps the installation clean and professional.
Step 9: Connect to Amplifier
Connect the subwoofer wire to the amplifier’s appropriate output terminals.
Final Check:
Verify that all connections are secure, wiring is safely routed, and the enclosure is fully mounted. Test the subwoofer before reinstalling any trim panels.
